On the Move!

Welp, the time has finally come! The house we made an offer on back in May has been finalized! We are moving! Just a few blocks away, so it will be an easier - I hate moving.

I am excited to share that I will have my own studio in the back! A two story building with a killer view of Puget Sound on the roof! Can't wait to get packed! And then unpacked!

Please bare with me as my posts will become a little sparse over the next week. I will be working on a commission from my room of our old house this week, and then I will pack up the contents of my workspace (including my computer) and make the switch! Hopefully I can get our internet up and working smoothly.

Can't wait to have guests! I am itching to entertain! Maybe I will have a studio sale! Or host Bert's Halloween party!? Or play hide and go seek with my friends!!!

One thing is for sure though. After moving several cluttery items today... I have a lot of crap! That includes art supplies! After working for an art supply company for 10 years, I sure accumulated lots of fun stuff that is not so fun to move... sigh, but who's complaining? Having a studio sale is sounding real nice about now!

Wanted to comm

Great use of texture in your oil paintings below! Can't imagine how many thick layers of paint must go on to get that type of effect. Or maybe it is just how you prepare your panel so well. Haha. Also, nice selections for your color palette.

Have you ever tried working on primed canvas?

I love your paintings! Very nice. Good on you for pursuing it and making a living from it! Good luck with the move!

Thanks guys!
I love working on canvas actually. Often my larger work is done on canvas mounted to panel. I love how soft I can get the brush strokes...
There is something about how the texture and the mini size of the little ones goes so nicely. The texture often becomes part of the trees or a subtle suggestion of roots... something that I can't quite replicate in my larger work.
Yeah, now that we have a bigger house, comes a bigger debt, so I may have to get a job again in the near future... I hope I don't have to go that route!

Hi Jennifer - thanks for stopping by my blog giving me the chance to find you as well! Love your landscapes, great color and texture. What are you using for the ground that creates the wonderful fissures?

Congratulations on your upcoming move - very exciting to have a big studio AND a view. Are you up on Phinney Ridge? My daughter lives near Greenwood and 84th - I love that whole area.

Bert cracks me up :-)

OH MY GOSH! How exciting! I new that I recognized your name! I didn't make the connection until now! I am such a dork! I am so glad you got it and it was all in tact! I always worry about the potential for mangling when something is shipped...
Yer awesome, thanks for the feedback! Enjoy!

Hey Terry!
How ironic your daughter lives so close to me! I am on Queen Anne Hill which is a stones throw away from Greenwood. In fact I have two shows on Greenwood right now as we speak! If she is interested, you should have her swing by the Neptune and Makeda Coffee shops - pictures of the shows are just a few posts below this one...
Oh and the cracks are with a special crackling paste made by Golden (modified a bit my me).

Jennifer - I'll talk to my daughter today and let her know about the two shows - I know she will love seeing them. She's an interior designer, and artwork is always on her radar. Maybe she'll come by your garage sale as well - art stuff and recycled stuff, how could it get any better?
